Making money online has never been so easy! BUT, and this is a big one, you have to put in the work in order to reap the benefits. It may take a little while to start reaping the rewards once you set things in motion, but if you work at it consistently, you will start to make money even while you sleep. You too can ensure your financial freedom.
With Covid throwing all of our well laid plans out of the window, lives have been changed and livelihoods have taken a hit that many simply can’t afford. A lot of people lost their jobs when companies were forced to downsize or close. Sometimes life happens, and you find yourself having to be a stay-at-home mom needing an income and a flexible schedule. Is this your situation? You need money, and you need it stat! So what can you do?
It is way past time to look into what legitimate opportunities the internet has to offer. There are countless ways for people to make money online. The world is your oyster, let me show you how many other people have been raking in thousands of dollars online. You don’t have to be an expert to do this too, you can even learn on the job and grow your skills.
Here are some options that actually do pay:
Become a freelancer
This is one of the quickest ways to put yourself out there as a writer, or a freelancer in any other sector. Freelance sites have so many options to explore. You have to make sure that you package your work in a way that sets you apart from the rest. This is what will cause a client to pick you over the other freelancers vying for business.
Fiverr is a good place to start as a freelancer. You can write, sell bass lines or voice overs, sell original pictures or edit images. The list of possibilities is endless. Check out the various categories that are on offer on the site here.

Create a blog
For some reason the idea of creating a blog seemed so daunting to me for a long time, but this is actually one of the best ways to have a creative outlet AND to monetise your talents. The process is actually quite easy with WordPress. I will edit this post with the link once I’ve published a post on this subject. You can use your blogs as a platform to educate your followers on topics of your choosing, and put in some affiliate and referral links that could make money for you.
Depending on what your goals are (and you should think about these before you set up) you can get a self hosted site, or stick with the platform that wordpress.com provides for you. You could also try a tool that allows you to create a website, an email marketing list and so much more. Read about that here.
Become an affiliate or use referral links
This option has become my personal favourite. It gives you more control over your income than you would likely get with any other option. Think of this as making recommendations about products and services that you either have used or would love to use. If your followers sign up or buy in, then you get a commission for being their hook-up. The more followers you manage to get, and the more posts that you put out with your links, then the better your chances of making an income that could very well change your life.
Be sure to clearly state that links are present in your posts, and that you stand a chance to make money should anyone click on those links. I start all my blog posts this way now, for full disclosure. The joy of affiliate and referral links is that you can also use your social media to get them out in public. I find that with affiliate and referral links, honesty is the best policy. Don’t talk up products that you know are no good. Once you lose your credibility, you could shrink your income from this significantly.

Write for paying magazines and blogs
The downside of this is that it may take a while for magazines and blogs to get back to you because they get material from a lot of writers. It could take up to 6 months to hear back, but a lot of the magazines and blogs pay pretty well. While many offer sums like $10 to $50, others pay up to $2000, depending on what they are looking for at the time.
Writing for magazines and blogs is great because most times, they tell you exactly what they are looking for. Follow instructions, if they ask for a pitch, don’t send an entire manuscript. Do your best work, proof read and edit it, and you could earn yourself a tidy sum. Some of these guys want all the rights to your work, but a lot of them ask to be the first to publish it, after which you can republish it on your own website. Just make sure to mention that it was published elsewhere first.

Create an online store
Not being a natural writer doesn’t mean there’s nothing online for you. Shopify is a great resource for creating an online store to sell your wares. Drop shipping is also an option, where you act as a middleman of sorts.
Trade in cryptocurrency
One of the ways that people have been making fortunes is through the buying and selling of cryptocurrencies. I wish I had started earlier because there is so much money to be made in cryptocurrency. Read more about the basics of investing in an article I wrote about that here.
